Reading is one of my favorite things to do.
Some favorite books:
Taliesin, Merlin, Arthur, and Pendragon by Steven R. Lawhead. A unique presentation of the King Arthur story. This is my favorite version of the story because it begins as a novel set in Atlantis (before it falls into the ocean) and ancient England and does not become recognizable as the Arthur story until very late in the third book. Taliesin is my favorite of the four. A fifth, Grail, is available in hardback, but I have not read it yet.
George MacDonald books. So far, I have read his children's books (The Princess and the Goblin, The Princess and Curdie, and At the Back of the North Wind) and others including, The Baronet's Song, The Tutor's First Love, and The Musician's Quest. I plan on reading more (and I have, but I will not list them anymore - it will get quite long!); however, the titles and covers are very misleading. For example, TheTutor's First Love sounds like a mushy love story, but really it's a beautiful tale of real life. It does include love, but it balances with other realities of life, including faith and even a ghost story. Michael Philips, the editor of MacDonald's works does a very good job except when it comes to creating titles and covers.
Uncle Tom's Cabin, by Harriet Beecher Stowe.
Pride and Prejudice, by Jane Austen. I had to read this for English and
dreaded it at first because I hated Emma. I love this book. I am most like
Elizabeth, and I can't stand her mother!
