Mrs.Steere's cheer
Mrs. Sally Steere is one of my favorite teachers. Her economics cheer goes
like this: (spoken words are in quotation marks, gestures are described)
- "Supply" --left arm out to form a supply curve on an imaginary vertical graph
- "Demand" --right arm out in similar fashion; now the arms should show an X
- "Equilibrium" --bring the X to your head so that the intersection point (equilibrium) is
touching the forehead(you have no more hands to point to the equilibrium point with, so
you use your forehead!)
- "Inelastic" --both arms (from elbow to fingertips) straight up;
- "Elastic" --both arms flat, parallel to the ground
- "You've got your floors up high. . ." --(this and all succeeding moves to the tune of
Jigalow); wave arms in air above your head
- ". . . your ceilings low. . ." --reach down and wave arms at feet
- ". . .and that's the way the money flows!" --dance like at the end of Jigalow; if you're
not familiar with Jigalow, ask a high school cheerleader, band member, etc. to teach you.
Also, if you're not familiar with economics, just pretend that floors are high and ceilings
are low, and if it really bothers you, ask a friendly economist near you.
